There are art collections and gardens at the J. Paul Getty Museum.
Orange County is less than an hour’s drive from Los Angeles. Attractions here include beaches, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm theme park. A two hour drive from Los Angeles will take to you to Big Bear in the mountains, Palm Springs in the desert or San Diego on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Travel times will be longer during rush hour.
You’ll enjoy San Diego if you want to go to school in a city on the beach. You can find some beaches that aren’t always crowded such as Imperial Beach and Torrey Pines State Beach. You’ll be able to eat at restaurants on the beaches. There’s more to do in San Diego than go to the beach. You can watch dolphins and sea lions perform at Sea World or visit the San Diego Zoo. There are historic sites, shops and restaurants in Old Town San Diego.
San Jose is the largest city in the northern part of the state. There are a variety of things to do here. You can see six gardens and some unusual trees at Gilroy Gardens theme park. You’ll be able to tour area wineries. You’ll see the entire Silicon Valley if you visit the summit at Alum Rock Park.
San Francisco is 48 miles northwest of San Jose. Attractions here include the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Aquarium of the Bay. Taking a cruise around San Francisco Bay will give you a breathtaking view of the city. You can go out on the ocean on a whale watching trip. Coit Tower was built to honor firefighters and you’ll see a panoramic view of San Francisco from the top of that building. Temperatures in San Francisco usually remain below 80 degrees.
