There are plenty of places for camping in the area. Things to do here during the winter months include cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
Boise National Forest is north of Boise. You’ll see pine, fir and spruce trees here. There are almost 300 species of animals, birds and fish in this forest. You can ride horses and hunt here. Scenic drives through the forest will give you a chance to see deer and elk during the winter. You can take a drive from Boise through the forest which will take you to Idaho City. This is a historic town where you can see buildings that date back to the gold rush in the 1860s. You can see some artifacts from this time period at the Boise Basin Museum.
