Oklahoma City is the largest city in the state. Eight million people visit this city every year. There’s a lot to see in the downtown area. You can see collections of European and American art at the Museum of Art. The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum honors the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. You can travel along the Bricktown Canal in a water taxi. There are basketball games at the Oklahoma City Arena and concerts at the Civic Center Music Hall.

You can see more attractions in other parts of the city while you’re getting further education here. A Victorian home and a one room schoolhouse are located at the Harn Homestead. You’ll be able to see animals and plants native to the state at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The Overholser Mansion was built in 1903 and has original furniture. The Frontier City Theme Park has rides and entertainment.

You’ll find places in the city where you can engage in outdoor sports or just relax and enjoy nature. You can rent kayaks at the Chesapeake Boathouse. Several miles of hiking trails wind through the woods at Martin Park Nature Center. This area is a wildlife sanctuary where you can see foxes, squirrels and birds. The heated fishing dock at Lake Hefner will keep you warm if you’re fishing during the cold weather.

Tulsa is the second largest city in the state. You’ll like Tulsa if you’re interested in the performing arts. The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Tulsa Ballet and the Tulsa Opera perform at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

There are places in the city to watch sporting events or engage in outdoor recreational activities. You can see hockey games and basketball games at the BOK Center. There’s a trail along the Arkansas River where you’ll be able to hike, bike or run. Other areas along the Arkansas River have places for whitewater rafting and kayaking.

You’ll see a variety of displays at the museums in Tulsa. The Gilcrease Museum has a large collection of American West artifacts. Other museums in the city are the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art and the Richardson Asian Art Museum.

Tulsa has some annual events scheduled during the warmer months of the year. The Cherry Street Farmers’ Market opens every spring. The SpringFest Garden Market and Festival is in April. The Tulsa State Fair is held in September and October. The Gatesway International Balloon Festival takes place in August.
