American Airlines said it resumed mediated talks earlier this week with the union representing its fleet services for the first time in 13 months.
American representatives met Tuesday and Wednesday with Transport Workers Union Fleet Service negotiating committees in Fort Worth.
The two parties had not met for negotiations since reaching a tentative agreement in May 2010 and the union decided to not seek a vote. This week, American said they exchanged comprehensive proposals covering key economic items in the previous tentative agreement.
“We attempted to revise the TA in a way that would be more amenable to the TWU and the Fleet Service Clerks, while still achieving the company’s key objectives that provide improved competitiveness,” American said.
The next negotiating session with the National Mediation Board is scheduled for July 25- 26 in Fort Worth.
