The Dey Mansion in the nearby city of Wayne was built in the middle of the 18th century. Visitors can tour this house and the colonial gardens on the property.
You’ll find plenty of things to do in Newark while you’re furthering your education there. You can see basketball games and hockey games at the Prudential Center. Baseball games are played at the Riverfront Stadium. You’ll be able to see musicals, concerts and dance performances at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
A 35 mile drive from Newark will take you to Netcong. Netcong is the home of the Wild West City theme park.
The city of Long Branch on the northern part of the Jersey Shore is about 46 miles from Newark. The Jersey Shore is an area of about 127 miles on the Atlantic Coast of the state. Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch has places for swimming, fishing and boating. Other towns along the Shore have places for swimming, sunbathing and water sports. You can rent cottages on the Jersey Shore during the summer.
Atlantic City is about 118 miles from Newark. Approximately four million people visit Atlantic City every year to enjoy the city’s many attractions. Places to visit in the city include casinos, hotels, the beach and historic sites. You’ll find a number of places to shop in Atlantic City.
There are places for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, fishing and boating on the Atlantic City beaches. You’ll have a great view of the beaches from the Absecon Lighthouse. This lighthouse dates back to the middle of the 19th century. Lucy the Elephant is another historic site in Atlantic City. This is a building shaped like an elephant that was built during the 1880s. You can learn about other historic sites in Atlantic City if you visit the Atlantic City Historical Museum.
