Raleigh has museums, historic sites and retail areas. Some of the city’s museums are the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Museum of History, the Contemporary Art Museum and the Museum of Art. The Raleigh City Museum focuses on the city’s history.
The State Capitol is one of the historic sites you can see in Raleigh. It was built in 1864 and is open for tours. The Joel Lane Museum House is another one of the city’s historic sites. This plantation manor was built in the 1770s.
Some of the places to shop in Raleigh are the Triangle Town Center, Cameron Village and Crabtree Valley Mall.
The beaches at the Outer Banks are 192 miles from Raleigh. You’ll be able to swim, sail, surf and water ski in the water here. There are places where you can go hiking, biking or horseback riding.
Greensboro is 77 miles from Raleigh. This city was founded in the early 1800s. You can learn about the city’s history at the Greensboro Historical Museum. You’ll be able to tour historic homes at Blandwood and Mendenhall Plantation. The Old Mill of Guilford is one of the historic sites you can visit in the city.
Newer places of interest in the city include places to shop and performing arts venues. The Four Seasons Town Center and the Tanger Factory Outlet Center are two of the shopping centers in the city. You can see concerts and sports events at the Greensboro Coliseum.
