You値l be able to swim and sunbathe on the beaches in Virginia Beach. You can dine at restaurants on the Boardwalk overlooking the beach. Different types of cruises depart from the beach. There are dinner cruises, sunset cruises, whale watching cruises and dolphin watching cruises.
There are things to do in this area besides visit the beach. You値l see seals, turtles, an owl, otters and other animals at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. The Cape Henry Lighthouse was built in 1792 and is open for tours. It is on the grounds of the Fort Story military base. Identification is required to enter the base.
The city of Norfolk is about 23 minutes away from Virginia Beach. One of the interesting places to visit in Norfolk is the Hermitage Museum & Gardens. The house on the property was built in the early 20th century. It is surrounded by 12 acres of gardens and woods.

The second largest city in the state is Arlington in the northern part of the state. It is across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. and is considered part of the Washington metropolitan area. You値l enjoy going to school here if you want to live in a heavily populated area. The average temperature in January is 43 degrees. The average temperature in July is 88 degrees. There is some snow here in the winter.
