West Virginia is a good place for you to attend Helicopter Training if you like mountains. All parts of the state are mountainous. The high temperature in the state during the summer is about 84 degrees. The average temperature in January is about 24 degrees. The annual snowfall in the state is around 30 inches.

Charleston is the largest city in the state. You can learn about the state’s history at the West Virginia State Museum. Touring a historic home in the area will give you chance to see how people lived in the 19th century. The Craik-Patton House was built in 1834.

The Charleston Museum was founded in 1773. You can learn about the history and culture of the Charleston area here.

The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences has a collection of art. There are two floors of science exhibits here. Movies are shown on a domed screen at the ElectricSky Theater. Planetarium shows are also held in this theater. The Maier Foundation Performance Hall at the Clay Center is home to the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

You can shop at the Charleston Town Center Mall in the city. The Flatwoods Factory Stores outlet mall is 67 miles from Charleston.

Kanawha State Forest is seven miles south of Charleston. You can go cross country skiing here in the winter and go hiking here during the summer. There are places to camp in the forest. You can find more opportunities for outdoor recreation at the Gauley River. This river is about 38 miles from Charleston. You can go whitewater rafting here. Campsites are located near the river.

Several annual events are held in Charleston. The FestivALL in June celebrates the arts with dance and music. Over 50,000 people attended this event in 2010. The West Virginia International Film Festival is held in Charleston during April and November.

Huntington is the second largest city in the state. It is about 53 miles west of Charleston. You can see several different museums at the Heritage Farm Museum and Village. The exhibits at the Heritage Museum focus on the state’s Appalachian heritage. The Transportation Museum has displays on different modes of transportation. You can walk through an exhibition of a coal mine at the Progress Museum.

The Huntington Museum of Art has collections of various objects from all over the world. British silver, art glass, firearms and sculptures are some of the items you’ll see here.

The Harris Riverfront Park is one of the outdoor places to visit in Huntington. It is on the edge of the Ohio River. There are areas for fishing and boating in the park.

The Huntington Center Plaza in the downtown area has a number of places to shop. There are more shops and some restaurants at Pullman Square.

The Keith Albee Performing Arts Center is in the downtown area. The Huntington Symphony Orchestra performs here.
