Virginia has a variety of scenery and a lot of history. You値l enjoy school here if you like hills and trees. There are beaches and some mountains in this state.
Virginia Beach is the largest city in the state. It is in the southern part of the state on the Atlantic Coast. The average temperature here in January is 49 degrees. The average temperature during July is 87 degrees.
You値l be able to swim and sunbathe on the beaches in Virginia Beach. You can dine at restaurants on the Boardwalk overlooking the beach. Different types of cruises depart from the beach. There are dinner cruises, sunset cruises, whale watching cruises and dolphin watching cruises.
There are things to do in this area besides visit the beach. You値l see seals, turtles, an owl, otters and other animals at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. The Cape Henry Lighthouse was built in 1792 and is open for tours. It is on the grounds of the Fort Story military base. Identification is required to enter the base.
The city of Norfolk is about 23 minutes away from Virginia Beach. One of the interesting places to visit in Norfolk is the Hermitage Museum & Gardens. The house on the property was built in the early 20th century. It is surrounded by 12 acres of gardens and woods.

Colonial Williamsburg is about 59 miles north of Virginia Beach. You値l travel back in time as you walk through the streets of Williamsburg. This town is full of 18th century buildings and you値l see how the colonists lived.
The second largest city in the state is Arlington in the northern part of the state. It is across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. and is considered part of the Washington metropolitan area. You値l enjoy going to school here if you want to live in a heavily populated area. The average temperature in January is 43 degrees. The average temperature in July is 88 degrees. There is some snow here in the winter.
You値l always find something to do while attend IFR Flight Training in the Arlington area. You can tour the Arlington National Cemetery and the Robert E. Lee House in Arlington. The city of Alexandria is next to Arlington. Old Town Alexandria has historic buildings, shops and restaurants. Metrorail trains and buses provide convenient public transportation in the Arlington area. Washington is just a short train ride from Arlington.
You値l find more things to do in the northern part of the state outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. George Washington痴 former home at Mount Vernon is about 22 miles from Arlington. Manassas National Battlefield Park is about 30 miles away. A 70 mile drive west of Arlington will take you to Skyline Drive. This scenic road winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains.
