AMT School Jacksonville Florida
Electrical and Avionics Systems
Our introduction to aircraft electrical systems will get you plenty of information to get started. Modern aircraft have extensive integrated electrical and electronic systems, plan and integrate them early to make the end when it is much more difficult. Our one day class on electrical and avionics will give you the information you need to design the systems that will bring your aircraft to life.
Introduction to Airframe
This class is a one day introduction to the Airframe and the different types of aircraft construction. After this class you will be able to choose the 3 or 5 day class specific to the type of aircraft construction that you want to focus on, metal or composite.
Experimental Aircraft- Getting Started Building Your Own
Building your own aircraft is a huge undertaking but a rewarding one. At first the project seems HUGE, but with proper planning and assistance you will finish the project.
While sometimes it is faster and maybe less expensive to buy a flying aircraft, there is no satisfaction like building it like you want it, so that it flies like you want it to. If you are ready to build your own special aircraft, get started out right by getting information upfront that will save you a lot of headaches.
Powerplant- The Heart of the Aircraft
Turbine, piston, quasi turbine, APU it doesn't matter. If the engine isn't running the aircraft is grounded. Some issues aren't easily corrected, it takes the trained experience of the Powerplant mechanic to be able to diagnose these problems and get the aircraft back in the air quickly and safely. Whether you are a full time A&P, a soon to be builder, or an owner that wants to know more about your aircraft engine, our classes will provide you with valuable information that will help your career or save you lots of money.
Airframe Construction and Repair
Airframe repair includes the part of the airplane that doesn't include the powerplant. The fuselage, wings, inside, outside, electrical systems, fuel systems and many others all integrated to develop a working system. In this class you will become aquainted with many of the systems that you will see often in your career. If you are a homebuilder or are thinking about becoming one, this class will prepare you for each step of the task ahead.
Avionics replacement and upgrade can be a rewarding career. An A&P can remove and install avionics, however in order to use those avionics the installer must have a GROL- General Radio Operators License available by testing from the FCC. Our instructor has his GROL, and can help you get yours.
Newer aircraft are made from or include many advanced composites. Polyester, vinylester, carbon fiber, sandwich panels. Each of these types is related, but is a different type of composite layup and require a different construction/repair procedure.
