Professional Pilot Course
Our Professional Pilot Course is intended to take our students through their multi-engine commercial rating in the minimum amount of time necessary, starting either from a private pilot license or from zero hours! If you are starting from zero hours, be sure to check out our Private Pilot License course to see the beginning of the full program!
The full Professional Pilot Course consists of the following programs:
Private Pilot Certificate (either through our private pilot program or your preexisting certificate)

Glass Cockpit Jet Transition Course (Boeing 737 Simulator): 20 hours glass cockpit training/20 hours ground instruction
Time Building Phase (Piper Warrior II or Diamond DA-20): Approximately 65 hours, which includes 10 free hours of safety pilot time
Commercial Single Engine (Piper Arrow II): At least 11 hours

Find out more about the different stages:
Instrument Rating (Single Engine)
The instrument rating is the first stop after obtaining your private pilot license, and is arguably the most important license to your piloting career! This rating will help you to familiarize yourself with detailed and structured flight plans, facing the riskier parts of flying more safely, and refining your flying skills.
Glass Cockpit Jet Transition Course
This course is designed to introduce the piston pilot to the jet aircraft and glass cockpit environment at our Fort Lauderdale location. It also provides an opportunity to practice CRM tasks and procedures. The course is taught by current airline qualified line pilots. Pilots leave this program with an absolute "edge" in the airline interview and training process!
Time Building Phase
Solo time building is an important part of your training, and usually consists of approximately 55 hours in our Piper Warrior II or Diamond DA-20, plus an additional 10 hours of free safety pilot time.
Commercial Single Engine Course
Our Commercial Single Engine Course is conducted in the Piper Arrow II, and introduces our students to complex aircraft. You’ll learn to execute different commercial maneuvers, get acquainted with landing gear, and get the credentials you need to accept paying passengers!
Commercial Multi Engine Course
Our Commercial Multi Engine Course is conducted in the Beechcraft Duchess (Florida) or Diamond DA-42 (Tennessee), and is the last course in our full Professional Pilot Program. At the completion of this course, you will hold an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, single and multi-engine land with an instrument rating. With these certificates, you’ll be eligible to fly many types of planes as a commercial pilot.
Professional Pilot Program Base Price: $34,811
As with every school, actual costs vary depending on each student’s unique abilities. Our price quotes are based on FAA minimum required hours under FAR Part 141 regulations and do not include any applicable examiner fees, student visa fees, TSA fees, knowledge exam costs, textbooks, or accommodations. Flight training is a highly individualized process and the actual number of hours required to reach a standard will vary significantly by candidate. Fuel Surcharges may apply and are subject to change without notice. There is a one-time enrollment fee for all CTI Professional Flight Training students.
Combined Single and Multi Engine Commercial Course
If you have ever dreamed about being a pilot and making a career out of it, commercial pilot training can turn your dream into a reality.
We provide commercial pilot training at both our Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee locations to anyone who holds at least an FAA private pilot certificate. Commercial pilot training can be offered in conjunction with an instrument rating to get your pilot career off to a great start!
To ensure you get the best value for every training dollar you spend, we offer many of the training hours in our FAA-approved flight simulators. Our Fort Lauderdale commercial course even includes a flat-rate glass cockpit program with an active Delta Airlines captain!
The best value in training towards a commercial license occurs when you train for your commercial single engine and commercial multi-engine simultaneously! At CTI Professional Flight Training, we offer both ratings for a combined base price of $17,822! Our Commercial Single Engine Course is conducted in the Piper Arrow II at our Fort Lauderdale location, and introduces our students to complex aircraft. Our Millington, Tennessee location (near Memphis) offers the Commercial Single Engine Rating as an add-on to the Multi-Engine Rating, which is conducted in the Twinstar Diamond DA-42-NG.
Our commercial programs are also available as standalone multi-engine or standalong single-engine. Contact us today for details on standalone programs.
This price assumes the student has the necessary solo flight experience outside of the program necessary to obtain a commercial rating. Additional solo hours are available to meet this need. In addition, each student receives 10 free hours of flight experience by acting as a safety pilot for a fellow student. Flight training is a highly individualized process and the actual number of hours required to reach a standard will vary significantly by candidate. Fuel Surcharges may apply and are subject to change without notice. There is a one-time enrollment fee for all CTI Professional Flight Training students.

CTI Professional Flight Training uses the best practices of traditional civilian flight training, military style training, and flight simulation to ensure that our graduates deliver the following attributes:
Flight and personal discipline
Unsurpassed technical knowledge
Unsurpassed human factors knowledge and CRM skills
If you want to start your career with the technical knowledge and professional attitudes that companies look for when hiring a pilot, you’ve come to the right place!
A Unique Training Format
CTI Professional Flight Training is one of the few flight schools in our area with self-examining authority. What does this mean to our students? It means you spend less time on the ground waiting for FAA Examiners to fit your check rides into their busy schedules. In addition, we are able to make flight school safer and more affordable by allowing our students to build flight time—as much as ten hours!—acting as safety pilots for our recent solo pilots. In this way, more knowledgeable pilots can help new pilots navigate the skies safely, all while the safety pilot logs flight time for free!
A Personalized Approach
CTI Professional Flight Training’s Professional Pilot Training Program is the basic "general requirement" needed to be legally employed as a US Commercial Pilot. The course takes about six months to complete. However, our offerings do not end there. We offer many add-on courses and even recurrent training to meet each student’s individual needs. The school also specializes in accommodating international students with license conversions and specialized curriculum to meet foreign country requirements. Full programs can be customized to meet diverse needs. One size never fits all!
