Due North Aviation, Comprehensive Helicopter Flight Instruction Services
Helicopter Flight School Ohio
What, me? Fly?

There are so many reasons why you might want to learn how to fly helicopters. Flying, like perhaps no other discipline, will challenge your skills in a nearly limitless number of areas and offers a lifetime of adventures whether you're flying to the other side of the country or just around your home town. It will teach about the world in ways that you might never have imagined and will give you a sense of accomplishment with which scarcely anything can compare. And the view isn't bad, either!

It's easy, however, to talk yourself out of your dream. Am I capable of learning to fly? Is it safe? Can I afford it?

The answer is yes. Like thousands of other men and women who were once bystanders, you can learn to fly no matter how much you know about aircraft or helicopters. With proper instruction and good common sense, flying is generally safer than your drive to the airport. And through our partner financing programs, you can learn to fly for less than you might think.

The crew at Due North Aviation is made up of people who have a passion just like yours, and we want to have the opportunity to share what we love about aviation--and, specifically, helicopters--with people who are just starting to discover the joy that flying can bring. We'll try to answer the questions you have about learning to fly here as best as we can, but please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We're excited to meet you and start your journey to be a pilot.

Why helicopters?
ohio helicopter school
Helicopters are among the most unique vehicles ever designed, and, unlike any other machine, will give you the ability to operate into and out of the smallest and most restrictive spaces and perform missions that no other flying machine can even approach.

Due North Aviation was founded by pilots who were passionate about rotorcraft. While all of our staff has experience with airplanes and other aircraft, we decided to focus on what we were most fervent about, and designed our business around our favorite type of flying--vertical.

Are helicopters hard to fly?
ohio helicopter pilot training
Flying helicopters takes a wide variety of skills--from understanding basic meteorology and flight science to mechanical aptitude, navigation, and, of course, a certain degree of coordination and motor skills to physically manipulate the controls.

The good news is that no matter what you might feel you're not good at, your life experience brings to the table aptitude in other areas that are equally important in learning to fly. Even if you know nothing about engine design, you might be more apt at navigation than somebody who frequently works on automobile engines, or your lack of mathematical skill might be overshadowed by your excellent hand-eye coordination. No matter what the gaps are, all of our instructors at Due North Aviation have worked with a variety of experience levels and backgrounds and will focus on your strengths and fine-tune the areas that are unfamiliar to you, no matter what those areas might be.

People from every walk of life have successfully learned to fly. Learning to fly helicopters, like everything, has its challenges and most students have various plateaus along the way, but we are familiar with the challenges you will face and will work to ensure that you're able to master flying the helicopter during your training.
