Florida Helicopters Become a Helicopter Pilot - Accepting Students from the Fort Lauderdale Area Only  Our team is composed of professional and experienced certified flight instructors. Our goal is to create a safe and knowledgeable pilot in a friendly and enjoyable environment. The whole experience is totally customized to suit individual needs. In order to accommodate your busy lifestyles, we can conduct ground instruction at locations of your choice. We also offer flight instruction on your personal R22 or R44. The aircraft needs to be fully insured and the instructor's name is to appear on the Policy. The Online Scheduling System allows you to reserve resources at your convenience. We can teach in English, German or French. However, please note that you need to be proficient in English in order to receive your Certificates/Ratings.  We can train you to fly a helicopter for pleasure or business. If you decide to make a career in the industry, we can train you to become a commercial pilot. We can also train you towards an instrument rating. Finally, if you're already an airplane pilot, we can train you to add a helicopter rating.We operate two Robinson R22s and two R44s. The R22 Beta II and the R44 I are both instrument trainers. Maximum seat weight for training is 200 Lbs in the R22 and up to 260 Lbs in the R44. Introductory Flights - Fly the R22 or the R44!  Florida Helicopters offers Introductory Flights. An experienced flight instructor will share the controls with you, the prospective student, while you get a feel of the R22 or the R44 in flight. This flight is designed to let you know if flying a helicopter, is something you wish to pursue. You as the customer, can plan on flying a minimum of 30 minutes and up to one hour. VA Benefits! HDW Florida Helicopters has been approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide flight training. Through this program, qualified veterans can be reimbursed for up to 60% of their flight training costs for any certificates / ratings after Private Pilot. All reimbursable training must be done through our FAA Part 141 flight training courses. Florida Helicopters is proud to support those who have served and are currently serving our country.
