![]() Welcome to Iowa Helicopter Over the past several years, Iowa Helicopter has been slowly and safely growing our business in order to serve the helicopter needs of central Iowa and now the Omaha Nebraska area. We are proud that our helicopter flight students have had a 100% passing rate for their pilot certificates. We believe students should train to exceed the required standards, not just simply meet them. Our students land great jobs flying with hospitals, the oil industry and tour operators.Flight Instruction All of our pilot courses are offered in either the Robinson R-22 or R-44 helicopters. The R-22 has a maximum pilot weight of 240lbs. and the R-44 has a maximum pilot weight of 300lbs. The Iowa Helicopter staff is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year to meet your training needs.Introductory Flight Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly a helicopter? Do you want to be a helicopter pilot, but you have never been in one before? Do you want to try something fun and challenging? Do you fly fixed wing aircraft and want to see what the difference is? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then take an intro flight! Our introductory flights consist of ½ hour ground instruction and a ½ hour flight. During the ground portion you will be introduced to the Robinson R-22 or R-44 helicopter. You will learn how it flies, be given the SFAR 73 awareness training, and have the opportunity to answer any questions you might have. During the flight your instructor will give you the controls and let you get a feel for the aircraft. You will be able to do some basic maneuvers and then given the opportunity to try to hover at the conclusion of the flight. Once safely back on the ground your instructor will have the answer to any further questions you might have. Flight Instruction Financing / College Credit Finance your training and earn your college degree at the same time!Iowa Helicopter has affiliated with the Utah Valley State College Global Aviation Degree Program to offer students a chance to earn college credit while learning to fly helicopters. |
