Learn to Fly!
A Private Pilot Licence enables you to fly your friends and family throughout New Zealand recreationally.
The syllabus as set down by the NZ Civil Aviation Authority requires a minimum of 50 hours flight time of an unrestricted PPL. This is compiled of approximately 30 hours dual (with an instructor) and 20 hours solo. On average students achieve their 1st solo after 10-15 hours of dual instruction. The 50 hours includes a minimum of 10 hours cross country and 5 hours instrument time and 5 hours terrain awareness training.
Commercial Pilot Licence
All pilots wanting to fly as a career (for hire or reward) are required by NZ Civil Aviation Authority to hold a Commercial Pilot's Licence.
The syllabus as set down by NZ Civil Aviation Authority requires a minimum flight time. This involves cross-country and instrument training as well as some advanced handling exercises.
