North Andover Flight Academy Helicopter Instruction

Located in Lawrence Massachusetts, North Andover Flight Academy is a complete helicopter training facility just northwest of Boston, Massachusetts. We are equipped to handle recreational and professional students utilizing Robinson helicopters. We have several instructors on staff, and we are the only helicopter flight school in the Boston area which is complemented with in-house mechanics. Our location is beneficial for training in multiple environments - metropolitan, seacoast, and mountainous terrain are some of the nearby features. Our combined flight training and formal ground school is configured to train world-class pilots. Our programs include:

Our chief pilot has 40 years experience, and many of our instructors have experience operating in Part 135 and other commercial operations. We also train in the Robinson R-44 helicopter, with special programs designed to reduce training times while increasing the amount of knowledge transfer, which equates to a better learning experience in a larger helicopter while reducing costs.

Our Aircraft

Here at NAFA we utilize the Robinson R44 helicopter. This 4 seat helicopter, is, without a doubt the best piston helicopter in the world. It has sold in record numbers, and has more safety features than any other piston helicopter. It is the largest, most powerful, reliable, and roomy piston helicopter available today. Why sacrifice comfort, speed, reliability, or usefulness when training?

Our R44 is the lowest price R44 available for training in the country. In fact, when compared over a private pilot license, the difference between training in the R44 versus a Schweizer or R22 is not as much as one would think. Coupled with the advantages of a 4 place aircraft, the decision is easy!

Because the R44 has 4 seats, we also offer to our students the Duo Training method of flight instruction. If you choose this track, we pair you with a similar student during the flight and ground instruction. This equates to more exposure and experience within the helicopter environment, which also means less money spent on your licenses and ratings. You will be surprised at how economical it can be training the Robinson R44.
