Our university degree program utilizes an air traffic control curriculum designed to graduate students ready for assignment with the FAA. The ATC training program fully integrates theory instruction with practical simulation, allowing the students to apply the knowledge gained. Students will be able to handle the specified volume of traffic in all sector types applicable to the course modules. The number of aircraft movements, level of separation and number of aircraft being controlled are at parameters that exceed standards.

Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to effectively operate in a multi-sector environment.


ATC training - UND Radar Lab

The training curriculum of each of the training modules are coalesced to provide an environment of increasingly advanced complexity in air traffic control training. These curriculums combined with a 32 position state-of-the-art radar simulation system, ensure that the students receive training that exceeds requirements.

3D Tower Lab

Our 360 degree and 225 degree control tower/radar simulators provide a 3D visual simulation to ensure students experience a teamwork environment while safely controlling air traffic from the en route environment though approach control to a landing with the control tower. These scenarios utilize both voice recognition technology and live pseudo-pilot training exercises.

Our equipment offers life-like visuals, unmatched voice recognition and comprehensive weather and environmental sound effects. In addition to having state-of-the-art facilities, UND Aerospace faculty members have outstanding credentials and are widely recognized for their innovative contributions in curriculum development, air traffic control training and instructional technology. We work with clients from a variety of countries including: Russia, China, Norway, and the United States.
