You’ll find that Tennessee is a good place to attend Type Rating Schools if you like a variety of scenery. This state has flat land, hills and mountains. Summer temperatures range between 78 and 88 degrees. The average high temperature during January in the state’s two largest cities is between 38 and 48 degrees. The average snowfall can reach five inches in the southern part of the state and nine inches in the northern part of the state.

Memphis is the largest city in Tennessee. It is in the southwestern part of the state. There are a lot of things for you to do while you’re in school here. You can tour Elvis Presley’s former home at Graceland. A walk along Beale Street in downtown Memphis will take you past clubs where you can hear blues music. Concerts are held at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts. You can learn about the culture, music and art of Memphis at the Center for Southern Folklore.

There are plenty of museums in the city. Exhibits and displays at the Cotton Museum at the Memphis Cotton Exchange focus on the history of the area’s cotton industry. You can learn about the history of blues music at the Delta Blues Museum. The exhibitions at the National Ornamental Museum focus on fine metalwork.

You’ll find a number of places to shop in Memphis. Malls in the city include Oak Court Mall and the Wolfchase Galleria. Downtown Memphis has a number of stores and restaurants. Flashback is a vintage department store where you can find items from the 1920s through the 1980s. The Memphis Farmers Market has local produce and handmade crafts.

The Memphis Botanic Garden is one of the outdoor attractions in the city. The Lichterman Nature Center is another place in the city where you can enjoy the outdoors. You can see gardens, a meadow and a forest here.
The second largest city in the state is Nashville. It’s on the Cumberland River in the northern part of the state.

You’ll have a wonderful time furthering your education in Nashville if you like country music. You can attend performances by country music stars at the Grand Ole Opry. Taking a tour of the building will give you a look at the Grand Ole Opry’s history. You’ll see exhibits that focus on two centuries of country music at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Country music artists perform at the Ryman Auditorium. You can take a self-guided tour of this 100 year old theater. Live country music is played at a number of restaurants in Nashville. The Country Music Wax Museum has figures of country music stars.

Nashville was founded in 1779 and there are a number of historic districts in the city. You can learn a lot about the state’s history at the Tennessee State Museum.
