Michigan is a great place for you to attend Flight Schools if you like lakes. This state borders four of the Great Lakes and has about 35,000 inland lakes. Detroit is the largest city in the state. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor attractions here. Belle Isle is two miles from downtown Detroit in the Detroit River. The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory here has plants from around the world and a Lily Pond Garden. The Belle Isle Nature Zoo has red pandas, red kangaroos, river otters and a number of other animals. You can walk and bike on the paths on Belle Isle.

You can see a variety of attractions in downtown Detroit. The Detroit Historical Museum has a street scene from the 19th century and a genuine auto assembly line. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra performs at the Max M. Fisher Music Center. The GM Renaissance Center has stores and restaurants. You can see GM vehicles on display in the GM showroom here.

There are more things to see and do in the Detroit area. Greektown is a historic neighborhood in the city. The neighborhood was first settled in 1830. Many restaurants here serve Greek cuisine. Fort Wayne was built in 1840 and you can tour the barracks building which dates back to 1848. You can take boat tours on the Detroit River. The Henry Ford Museum is located in nearby Dearborn. There are a number of cars on display here.

You can visit gardens and parks in and near the city. Cranbrook Gardens has 40 acres of gardens and a lake. The Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum are on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor.
There are places for downhill skiing within an hour’s drive of Detroit. You can go cross country skiing at Sterling State Park. This park is about 38 miles from the city. There are places here for camping, biking and hiking.

There are plenty of places to shop in and near Detroit. There are more than 180 stores at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills. The Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn has more than 160 stores. The Somerset Collection is 25 minutes from downtown Detroit. There are some upscale stores at this mall which has over 180 stores.

Port Huron on the shore of Lake Huron is about an hour north of Detroit. You can swim and sunbathe here during the summer. Excursion boats will take you on sightseeing trips around the lake. You’ll be able to see leaves change colors here during the fall.
