Considering Sport Pilot Training in Colorado?

Colorado is a great place to attend school if you like outdoor sports and don’t mind cold weather. You’ll be able to ski in the winter and hike in the summer. There are plenty of places for white river rafting, horseback riding and fishing. Over three million people visited this state in 2010.

You’ll find a lot of mountains in this state. The two largest cities in the state, Denver and Colorado Springs, are both at high elevations. Denver is a mile above sea level and Colorado Springs is more than 6000 feet above sea level. You can expect snow and cold temperatures in both cities during the winter. You might see snow in September in Colorado Springs and in October in Denver. Both cities have an average temperature of about 29 degrees in January and an average temperature of about 80 degrees in July. You’ll have over 250 days of sunshine in both cities.

There will be a lot for you to do outdoors and indoors if you further your education in the Denver area. You’ll find ski slopes less than an hour away at Echo Mountain. The slopes at Eldora Mountain Resort and at Loveland Ski Area can be reached in a little over an hour. You can ice skate outdoors in Denver at Flatiron Crossing Mall. Places for summer hiking within 50 miles of Denver include Castlewood Canyon State Park and Golden Gate Canyon State Park. You can hike and bike at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver.

Other attractions in Denver include the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Downtown Aquarium and the Forney Museum of Transportation. You can stroll through a Victorian neighborhood in Denver’s Lower Downtown or tour the United States Mint. The resort town of Vail is less than a hundred miles from Denver. You can go skiing and snowshoeing here. Vail has a number of boutiques and specialty shops.

Colorado Springs is approximately 71 miles south of Denver at the bottom of Pikes Peak. There are a lot of things to do at Pikes Peak. You’ll be able to hike, bike, fish and swim. On a clear day you’ll be able to see as far as Kansas and New Mexico from the 14,110 peak summit.

You can go horseback riding, hiking or mountain climbing in the Garden of the Gods Park. You’ll be able to see huge red rocks here or visit historic Rock Ledge Ranch. A tour of the Cave of the Winds will give you a close look at underground caverns.

Places to visit in the city include the American Numismatic Association Money Museum and the Pioneers Museum. You can have a Victorian tea at the McAllister House Museum.
