Wilmington is the largest city in the state. The next largest city, Dover, is an hour away from Wilmington. The average temperature in both cities ranges from a low in the 20s in January to a high of about 85 degrees in July.
You’ll like attending training in Wilmington if you’re interested in nature or history. You can see early American antiques and visit gardens at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. There are more flowers and plants to see at the Longwood Gardens, the Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar and Goodstay Gardens. You can learn a lot about history if you go to the History Center. This center has the History Museum, Old Town Hall and Willingtown Square.
The historic town of New Castle is less than seven miles from Wilmington. The Amstel House here dates back to the 1730s and is open for tours. The nearby Dutch House was built in the late 1600s. The town green in New Castle has been there since 1651. You’ll have a great view of the Delaware River from Battery Park.

Furthering your education in Dover will give you a chance to visit a variety of attractions. You can get a look at nature and wildlife by driving along the Route 9 Coastal Heritage Scenic Byway. This road goes along the Delaware River and through several wildlife areas. You’ll see thousands of migrating birds in the area during the spring and the fall.
Dover was founded in 1683 and there are many historic places to visit in this city. You can see a replica of a rural village from the 1890s at the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village. The home at the John Dickinson Plantation was built around 1740. The Old State House in Dover was the state’s first capitol building. It was completed in 1791 and you can see a courtroom that is furnished in an 18th century style.
There are a lot of other things to do in Dover. You can watch horse racing at Dover Downs and auto racing at the Dover International Speedway. You’ll be able to see planes at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base.
The Delaware Bay is only a few miles from Dover. There are areas for swimming at Big Stone Beach and Bowers Beach.
You can shop at the Dover Mall and in downtown Dover. Some shops in the city sell handmade Amish goods. These include quilts and furniture.
