This program is designed for students who intend to become certified aviation mechanics, but do not wish to obtain a college degree at this time. Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification exams for Airframe Mechanic, Powerplant Mechanic, or both (A&P). This program is approved by the FAA, which requires that every single required hour of instruction be given to each student. Because of this requirement and the vital importance of mechanical performance, class attendance is an absolute must to remain in good standing in the program. Failure to attend the classes in accordance with instructor established guidelines will result in dismissal from the program. The program is divided into three separate segments: general aviation, airframe, and powerplant. The required segments are taken sequentially in an intensive combination of lecture and laboratory learning.

The Aviation Maintenance Technology curriculum starts with general entry-level subjects such as aircraft familiarization, math, physics, and basic electricity as applicable to aircraft. Inspection techniques, drafting, welding and basic maintenance processes are included as well. Airframe subjects include structures (both sheet metal and composite) and aircraft systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, landing gear, flight controls, electrical and fuel. Your studies can lead to a career maintaining and repairing aircraft or to other careers, including analyzing work methods and best practices, designing support systems for maintenance personnel, monitoring safety, developing and delivering training and more.
