Upon completion of the program, a student is eligible to take the prescribed written, oral and practical exams given by the Federal Aviation Administration. Showing satisfactory completion of these exams, the student will receive their Mechanic Certificate with an Airframe and/or Powerplant rating, which gives them the authority to perform inspections, minor repairs, and alterations to fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Graduates will be awarded the Associate of Applied Science degree through Northwest. | |

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician certification (A&P license) process consists of successfully passing written, oral, and practical examinations for each of the three subject areas taught; General, Powerplant, and Airframe. The examinations are administered by an FAA Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME) and can be taken at the school. The “Powerplant” license is usually obtained during the students 3rd semester of the program and the “Airframe” license is usually obtained at the end of the students 4th semester. | |
