Graduates of the TAM program are employed by airlines, aircraft manufacturing companies, repair stations, the United States military, and general aviation fixed-base operators. Some mechanics specialize in work on a particular part of an aircraft, such as metal or fabric surfaces, avionics equipment, hydraulic systems, landing gear, propellers, reciprocating engines, and turbine engines. Others, particularly those employed by the smaller fixed-base operators, work on many different aircraft systems and may inspect and repair many different types of aircraft. The AAS degree program provides the experience required to obtain the FAA Airframe and Powerplant aircraft mechanic ratings. Each certificate program provides the experience required to obtain the aircraft mechanic rating appropriate for the program completed. | |
