Top-Rated Arizona Pilot Training Courses
Classic Air Aviation is home to top-rated Arizona pilot training courses from qualified, trained, and trusted flight instructors. As a number one rated flight school in Arizona.
FAA Approved Pilot School
We are an FAA-approved part 141 private pilot school and are working to release our instrument and commercial programs in 2018. FAA approval of a school helps students gain eligibility for financial aid and other financial resources. For ex-military students, this can include the GI Bill.
Moreover, an FAA-approved curriculum enables students to take their check rides and achieve ratings and licenses in an organized, syllabus-based way. For this reason, the FAA requires fewer flying hours of part 141 students. For students who enroll in our 61 programs, the same FAA-approved syllabus is used to ensure that all students have the same high level of training, but the part 61 regulations allow instructors more flexibility in applying the syllabus, especially in the types of aircraft that can be used.
Ground School in Arizona
One of the first steps to obtaining your pilot’s license is Mesa ground school. Subject matter includes the basics of aircraft functioning, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, FAA regulations, flight instruments, aircraft performance, weather theory and forecasts, charts and navigation, and more. The ground school prepares you to take the FAA Private Pilot written exam.
Arizona Private Pilot Flight Training
Classic Air’s FAA certified private AZ pilot training is comprehensive and lays the groundwork for advancement to multi-engine flying, commercial piloting, and more.
This certification will enable you the freedom to travel the country for your personal or personal business needs. This is also the first step in making aviation your new career.
Arizona Flight Instrument Ratings
CAA offers certification and rating programs to further your pilot resume including commercial certification, instrument, and multi-engine ratings. Once you have obtained a Commercial Pilot license, you have a wide range of career options and paths.
An instrument rating is crucial if you want to be able to fly in adverse weather conditions and is also a popular requirement of commercial carriers.
Affordable
Classic Air Aviation has a fully staffed, in-house maintenance department that handles all the tasks required to keep our fleet in the air. We have our own fueling facility and trucks to provide our customers with lower-cost aircraft rental options.
With our proven training method and syllabus, we keep our students close to the minimum required hours while training in one of the busiest airspaces in the U.S. We offer a cashback rewards program for active students and pilots, as well as discounts to active and retired military members.
We give our customers flexible payment options, and we can assist them in signing up for financing. Best of all, we don’t require our students to pay for programs upfront; they can pay for their individual lessons as they go.
Comprehensive
Classic Air offers self-paced and fast-track programs for private pilot, instrument, commercial pilot, and certified flight instructor (CFI) ratings. Unlike most AZ flight schools, we also offer add-ons such as tailwheel or complex aircraft endorsements.
We take pride in training our students the traditional “old school” way, teaching skills such as navigation utilizing charts and maps, keeping navigation logs, E6B, and plotter alongside new technology like GPS, moving maps, and glass-cockpit transition.
We provide military aviation prep courses for those interested in joining the armed forces as a pilot, courses for family members, solo courses, ground-school classes, and simulator training. Our FBO and maintenance services are equally comprehensive.
Streamlined Curriculum
Classic Air Aviation offers a streamlined curriculum for students seeking flight training from certified flight instructors who are more than qualified to help pass on their knowledge as seasoned pilots.
From ground school to flight training, CAA has implemented a training program that can help pilots receive the experience they need and hone their skills. Our syllabus-based flight school is committed to helping you get the proper certifications, license, and training you need to get you in the air.
With a variety of programs and training available, we also offer fast track programs from accomplished flight instructors who can flexibly apply our streamlined syllabus for students in every program. Contact our Arizona flight school today to learn more.
Optimized
Classic Air Aviation is a “mid-sized” flight school and fixed base operator (FBO) in Mesa, Arizona. We are small enough to know all our students and customers by their first names, which enables us to provide a friendly, personal experience to each of them.
Unlike some of the large flight schools, we treat each student as an individual and tailor their training to meet their specific needs and goals. On the other hand, Classic Air Aviation is big enough to offer a full range of certification and rating courses.
We have spacious, professional-grade training and maintenance facilities, with a fleet of aircraft to keep our students moving through their programs, as well as a comprehensive range of small-aircraft ground services.
Certified Flight Instructors (CFI & CFII)
Whether you are a seasoned pilot looking to share your flying wisdom or a pilot who would like to gain more hours and experience teaching others, Classic Air Aviation can prepare you to earn your Flight Instructor certifications.
As a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), you not only benefit yourself and the individual students you teach—you also contribute to making the skies safer for everyone.
Arizona Flight Endorsements
Endorsements aid pilots in maintaining and developing their flying skills by expanding their experience level. Many pilots choose to broaden their pilot resume by earning endorsements in complex aircraft and tailwheel aircraft.
Proficiency, vast experience and versatility are keys to advancement in the aviation industry.
Fast Track Flight Training in Arizona
On a tight schedule or traveling from out of state? We feature accelerated training programs to fit your schedule and completion goals. In fact, you can build your own schedule, flying as much as 6-7 days a week.
Your training will be just as thorough with courses including Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII, MEI and Tailwheel.
AZ Cirrus SR22 Transition Training
If you are looking to advance your flying experience and portfolio in a faster aircraft the Cirrus SR 22 is a High-Performance, technically advanced aircraft with a 315 HP engine and sophisticated avionics.
An additional flight endorsement might be required for pilots to fly this type of aircraft. This course is useful for anyone wishing to transition from a steam gauge cockpit into glass and is an especially popular rental for weekend trips.
Military Flight Training in Arizona
Are you looking to join the United States Armed Forces as a pilot? The experienced military pilot flight instructors at Classic Air Aviation can prepare you for your military Initial Flight Screening and Undergraduate Pilot Training.
We strongly recommend that you earn your Private Pilot license first. Some units make it a prerequisite, but regardless having your license increases your chances of acceptance alongside other less experienced applicants.
International Pilot Training in Arizona
We welcome and can accommodate international students with an appropriate visa. We will consult you through the Transportation Security Administration’s Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP) application and will provide assistance in getting you through the process as quickly as possible.
As soon as we receive the authorization, you can start your AZ flight training. We are also actively working toward becoming a partner to issue I-20 visas for student applicants in order to assist more pilots.
Arizona Airline Pilot Career Program
If you are looking for more than a private pilot's license, this program will take you from zero time to a certified flight instructor. After graduating from the program you will be required to build flight time to achieve 1500 total hours to apply to a regional airline carrier.
Graduates will have the opportunity to interview for open instructor positions. There are many options from cargo, corporate, or airline career jobs after acquiring the required flight time, ratings, and certifications, and Classic Air Aviation is here to help.

“Hello, just to give you my feedback about my Introductory Flight that I had this past Friday 10/04 with the instructor Jon and your Cessna 172P. The flight was great, the instructor was very nice to let me “have fun” flying part of the climb, the whole cruise and descent phase with safety, and giving me the right advices to fly better. Of course I felt very quiet and safe. The weather was beautiful, just some turbulence which made the flight more funny! Of course I’ll see you next time for more flights.”

“Great place to fly! Highly recommended! I wanted to rent a plane to fly from Mesa, AZ to Durango, CO for New Year’s (2013) and Classic Air Aviation got my business! I couldn’t have been happier with them! Every other aircraft rental company and flight school I called wanted to bill me two to three hrs for EACH DAY that I didn’t fly the plane. Given that we’d be skiing for three full days, the extra “fees” would have added $600-$900 to the final bill…for NOTHING! Apparently, CAA is the only flight school in the valley that knows that their customers aren’t made of money and Jon (the owner) agreed to waive any sort of daily fee as long as we were back by our planned arrival date (weather permitting, of course)!”
